I fell in love with saving and investing at a young age. As a boy, my parents would give me $3 for the arcade and I would tuck $2 of it in my pocket for deposit into my piggy bank. At the age of 16, after working all summer as a gas station attendant and maintenance worker at a golf course, my mother drug me down to the local bank to open my first Individual Retirement Account.
I was kicking and screaming as she forced me to write a check to my account for the entirety of my summer savings - $2,000. I was then informed that I would not be able to touch this money for another 43 years! The investment advisor used my contribution to purchase a US stock mutual fund. A year later, we did the same thing, but this time there was less protest as I noticed my balance had grown.
The decade of the 90’s saw US stocks grow by over 300%. The subsequent checks I would write became easier and easier, and I was hooked.
I moved from the Bay Area to attend California State University Sacramento. I earned my degree in Business with a concentration in Finance knowing I would go on to help others diligently save and invest for their future.
After 20+ years with Northwestern Mutual as a wealth management advisor and ultimately a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) practitioner, my partner Ryan Triplett and I launched Boyd Wealth Management, LLC in May of 2018.
Today, we take great satisfaction in helping a select group of busy, successful people chart a well-defined path to reach their financial goals. As a business owner myself for the last 20+ years, I’ve developed a deep passion and expertise in helping current owners, and those who have recently exited, navigate complex planning opportunities.
When I’m not in the office, you can find me on the golf course or traveling with my wife Susan and our two young boys. Our favorite destinations are Lake Tahoe, Maui, and most recently San Sebastian, Spain.
I have passionately served as a member of the Advisory Council to the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Northeastern California and Northern Nevada.

I have always been a bit of a math geek and even started college as a math major. I figured out quickly that I was more interested in the practical applications instead of theory and began looking for alternatives that I could be passionate about. It wasn’t long before I found a perfect fit in Business and Finance.
After completing my Bachelor of Business Administration, I went on to earn both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS.) I love the mix of creativity, math, and learning that is required each day to successfully advise clients on their financial plan and investments.
I’ve lived in Northern California my whole life. Shannon and I currently live in Roseville.
In my free time, I enjoy reading (my amazon recommendations are always quite the interesting combination of business/finance/investing books mixed with a lot of science fiction and fantasy) and watching basketball and football. I am a long-suffering Cincinnati Bengals fan, but there’s a glimmer of hope now that we have Joe Burrow!

I have been fascinated by capital markets and their impact on people since I began studying economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. This curiosity, combined with a desire to apply the knowledge in a practical and value creating manner, motivated me to pursue degrees in both Economics and Communication.
I am driven by a need to perpetually learn and challenge my existing views while refining a consistent, repeatable investment process that helps clients achieve their financial goals. At the heart of this philosophy is my belief that financial stability is a key component in facilitating a less stressful and more fulfilling life.
I began my career as a financial advisor after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2008 and have remained passionate about professional development and the benefits it brings to client relationships.
Earning my Charted Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation in 2015, I have enjoyed a combination of investment research, portfolio construction, and investment operational roles over the past decade and look forward to bringing a well-rounded perspective to our clients.
I live with my wife and three daughters in Rocklin and enjoy golfing, books, hiking, and spending time with family.
